PLANNING WORKSHOP

Join fellow Connecticut VEX Robotics coaches, advisors, and event partners for our

annual planning workshop — a half-day session built around collaboration, strategy, and community. Whether you’re a seasoned event host or just starting your program, this workshop has something for everyone.

What We’ll Cover

Networking with coaches, advisors, and event partners statewide
Event hosting logistics: costs, staffing, technology, and benefits
Skills competitions, judged awards, and season planning strategies
State Championship updates and participant feedback
State funding opportunities and summer training (July 6–10)
REC Foundation updates for VEX V5
Statewide growth: adding event partners, resources, and volunteers

This year’s workshop includes a special open discussion on our 3-Year Leadership Transition Plan (2026–2028). June 2026 CTEEA REC Arial Drone Workshop (June 16, 2026)

This is an introduction to the REC Arial Drone progam and will provide hands on instruction on operating the codroneEDU drone as well as an overview of the drone competitions being sponsored by CTEEA and host schools during the 2025 - 2026 school year.

Each recipient will receive a competition ready codrone EDU drone.

Breakfast food and lunch will be provided.

Connecticut REC VEX IQ Summer Institute 2026 (July 06, 2026)

CTEEA VEX IQ Summer Summit July 6–10, 2026 | 9:00 AM – 3:00 PM Beman Middle School, Middletown, CT Limited to 60 Participants

The CTEEA VEX IQ Summer Summit is a focused, week-long professional development experience for Connecticut educators, coaches, mentors, and event partners working with or looking to launch REC Foundation VEX IQ programs at the elementary and middle school level.

Participants will move between structured classroom sessions and hands-on lab time, covering both in-class program integration and competitive after-school team development. Technical training will also be provided on running an event at your own school, and coaches will have the opportunity to explore the full range of resources CTEEA can offer to support your VEX IQ program.

What's Covered:

Robot building fundamentals and design strategies
Programming with VEXcode IQ — blocks and Python
Integrating VEX IQ into school curricula
Launching and sustaining competitive after-school teams
Engineering notebook best practices
Coaching, mentoring, and team development strategies
Program fundraising, district communication, and sustainability
Event hosting training and CTEEA equipment resources

Note: This summit runs alongside separate VEX V5 and Aerial Drones summits at the same location. Some sessions on program administration and sustainability will be shared across all three groups.

Format & Perks:

Hands-on labs and classroom sessions throughout the week
Daily breakfast and lunch provided
Stipends available for qualifying active Coaches and Mentors
Networking with educators and volunteers from across Connecticut

All experience levels welcome. No prior VEX IQ experience required.

The CTEEA Aerial Drones Summer Summit is a focused, week-long professional development experience for Connecticut educators, coaches, mentors, and event partners working with — or looking to launch — REC Foundation Aerial Drones programs at the middle and high school level.

What's Covered:

Drone piloting fundamentals, autonomous coding, and mission design
Integrating Aerial Drones into school curricula
Launching and sustaining competitive after-school teams
Engineering notebook best practices
Coaching, mentoring, and team development strategies
Program fundraising, district communication, and sustainability
Event hosting training and CTEEA equipment resources

Note: This summit runs alongside separate VEX IQ and VEX V5 summits at the same location. Some sessions on program administration and sustainability will be shared across all three groups.

CTEEA VEX V5 Summer Summit July 6–10, 2026 | 9:00 AM – 3:00 PM Beman Middle School, Middletown, CT Limited to 60 Participants

The CTEEA VEX V5 Summer Summit is a focused, week-long professional development experience for Connecticut educators, coaches, mentors, and event partners working with — or looking to launch — REC Foundation VEX V5 programs at the middle and high school level.

Participants will move between structured classroom sessions and hands-on lab time, with training offered at two levels to serve the full range of VEX V5 programs. Middle school tracks focus on foundational building, programming, and team development, while high school tracks address more advanced design strategies, autonomous coding, and competitive program management. Both levels cover in-class program integration and competitive after-school team development. Technical training will also be provided on running an event at your own school, and coaches will have the opportunity to explore the full range of resources CTEEA can offer to support your VEX V5 program.

What's Covered:

Robot building, design strategy, and mechanical concepts
Programming with VEXcode V5 — blocks, Python, and C++
Middle school track: foundational skills and introductory competition prep
High school track: advanced design, autonomous routines, and game strategy
Integrating VEX V5 into school curricula
Launching and sustaining competitive after-school teams
Engineering notebook best practices
Coaching, mentoring, and team development strategies
Program fundraising, district communication, and sustainability
Event hosting training and CTEEA equipment resources
